Visiting Our Language Partner's Home Town of Chivasso

quotes:
Mason- "I had no idea feeding four boys would be so hard."
Colin- "Mason if I eat the eye then I don't owe you 1.50 Euro (Mason) no because that means I'd have to bet you and i want my Euro fifty."
Mason- *after confronted by an Italian boyscout asking me to buy something* "You're cute but I have no idea what you're saying!"

These past three days have mostly been getting into the schedule and attempted cultural assimilation. Marco was kind enough to take us to his hometown of Chivasso (Key-vos-oh) where we were fortunate enough to meet his family and wander around his home city and enjoy the festivities offered by the religious festival taking place there. We also were able to sample "true artisan" gelato which was amazing and also visit the park by the river Po. We were invited to stay for dinner that night which consisted of appertivos (deviled eggs and much more), main course (pasta with shrimp, clams, and mussels), second main course (fish,) and then salad, and afterwards dessert. It was amazing as well and we were eager to finish all of it after days of two meals mainly consisting of a peanut-butter breakfast and a linner of a kabab. The next day we decided to go and play some soccer so Peter, Brandan, Colin, and I walked 30 minutes to the park outside the Olympic stadium where we scrimmaged each other with Nalgene goals and met two other Italians who played with us making it 3 vs three and then later on Joined by 6 more Italians making it 6 v 6. After a very long time and an American win we headed back to eat some of our Tortellini we had bought earlier on and finished off the day with a much needed big meal. In another story not shown by the pictures the washing machine is a jerk and because it took so long with my clothing load, the detergent bleached some items effectively ruining them. Thankfully it only ruined the grey jacket (which I know my mother hates) and my boxers which will never be seen by the mass public either way. So in the long run I saved a lot of baggage space taken up by that jacket. In class today, a USAC girl told us that in school somebody had stolen her entire purse containing all of her American money, all credit cards, and the key to their apartment which resulted in then renting a hotel for last night thankfully due to the fact that her partner still had his wallet. Tomorrow, with no class on the docket, Colin and I will hopefully be heading toward Europe's largest open market to browse.
