Piedemont & Lingotto Art Gallery

quotes:

Trevor (when arriving to the winery): "Here we are! Candy Land!"

These past two days have been very exciting and included a visit to the Lingotto art museum as well as the usual meandering around town and finally the Piedmont wine tasting field trip today. The gallery was fantastic and was privately donated by the previous owners of the Fiat factory and included several classics including many pieces from Matisse and Picasso. Wine tasting today started early with a visit to a castle in the Piedmont area famous for Barbera wine and white truffle auctions going for up to 400 Euros a gram. After a brief visit there with many photos we headed to a traditional Italian restaurant in the Italian countryside where we were served the typical four course meal paired with the wine from the local vineyard. Afterwards we visited one of the very first vineyards in the area, a family owned business, with roots tracing back to the first century. After a very welcomed cold and musty tour of the massive inner-workings of the plant we were invited to partake in wine tasting with some choice appertivos to match. Overall a very great day that fully lived up to both our expectations. Tomorrow we will visit Marco's family out of Porta Susa train station and continue the daily Italian life :)
